The demonstrator for Superconducting Magnetic Levitation is the result of a joint development project of 7 partners from railway and transportation industry as well as public research centers. 125 years after the first electric locomotive was presented, the SupraTrans technology was introduced to the public at the Innotrans fair 2004 in Berlin.
SupraTrans II is the next stage of development towards a real Maglev transportation-system. The Drive-Test-Facility will be taken into operation until the end of 2010. The 80 m long round track with propulsion system will be used for testing of the suspension system at high speed with different types of vehicles.
