Test Drive Facility SupraTrans
07/2009 - 02/2011
SupraTrans II goes the next step towards the real transport system. The Test Drive Facility SupraTrans II took up her driving operation in february 2011. It consists of a 80-m-long circuit and serves the test of the levitation system at practice related operational conditions.
SupraTrans – Demonstrator
05/2002 – 12/2004
The Demonstrator for superconductive Magnetschwebetechnik is the result of a technology development of seven partners from road technology, traffic enterprises and public research. The Demonstrator was introduced 125 years after the first electric railroad engine on the road technology fair InnoTrans Berlin in 2004.
CLEANLIFT 01
12/1999 – 03/2001
CLEANLIFT is a Demonstrator for a lift with superconductive supported lift cage. As a vertical version of a means of transportation the CLEANLIFT 01 is in a certain way predecessor of the today's transport system SupraTrans. The CLEAN LIFT 01 was presented for the first time on the Hannover fair in 2001.
What is SupraTrans?
SupraTrans is an innovative transport concept which is based on the stable levitation of a massive superconductor in an external magnetic field.
In recent times magnetic bearings become more and more important. Electromagnets transfer contactless forces and enable rotating or locomotive movement. The production of the required guiding forces in this magnetic bearings requires a costly measuring and control technology.
Essentially one can solve both with superconductive magnet bearings. With massive superconductors and a simple magnetic track one can achieve levitation effects free from any friction.
The development of massive high temperature superconductors (HTSL) has lately progressed so far that the application seems possible with magnetic levitation trains. The project SupraTrans should answer the question whether this technology is suitable as a carry and guiding system and it should determine the conditions on their use in transport systems.
