Project description
Principal item of the project SupraTrans is currently a Demonstrator which achieves a contactless and force-fit anchorage using superconductive magnet bearings.
The Demonstrator serves as a test carrier for the system components driveway, electric drive, vehicle, energy transmission as well as control and security technology.
Built in Dresden and shown for the first time to the public at the InnoTrans Berlin 2004 the SupraTrans-Demonstrator marks a developmental step. He shows the general feasibility of magnetically supported transport systems using the supraconductor technology.
Provided that the other developmental steps run successfully, a magnetic levitation train system based on the described new technology also with speeds far below those which are usual today with magnetic levitation trains is possible.
The feasible range of application reaches from the suburbs-town centre traffic up to the in-plant transport with the highest purity standards as for example in the electronic industry.
